Here is our Carrara Marble being made for all our other bench tops. Very exciting to see all our house bits around the place.
Our big marble slab on the machine waiting to be cut.
Here is the machine where all the action takes place. I have learnt a lot about stone finishes in the last few days. We are having a mitre cut where you have the joint on the 90 degree. If that didn't make sense I apologise hehe because all the guys were talking to Mr B about it and my eyes started to glaze over LOL I just said I don't want to see joins and I wanted the edges to have a soft feel about them.
Oh...I almost forgot, we have another random addition to our house....according to our stone mason, our bar bench top is going to be Carrara Marble??? When I got home, I looked in all my notes to the builder and no where did I see I had that down hehe oh well, will look beautiful and is just another random moment in my house build. I have a great sense of humour so looks like we are having marble in the bar!

Wow, can't wait to see the marble in your kitchen. And what a bonus with the bar bench!
I agree, natural stone has such wonderful colouration and randomness of pattern. I'm sure all the stone pieces you have planned for your house will look stunning :-)

Wow, it's gorgeous! It will look absolutely stunning. A-M xx
I'm in love with your granite choice, Mrs. B! And I'm envious that you got to go to the stone mason's shop for a tour, even seeing some of your stone getting cut!! I've toured the stone warehouses before, but the shop would be a treat! I think it's fantastic that you're mixing your materials - granite and carerra... it's going to look absolutely beautiful! I'm looking forward to your kitchen after photos :-)

Thanks guys for all your comments! I must admit it was very exciting to actually see not only our stones being cut but the templates for our benches lying around in the factory. I think it makes it more special when you actually meet the stonemasons and cabinet makers. I didnt tell you but....after I posted, my builder was there supervising the cut of the granite (it is a very expensive stone in Australia and he wanted to make sure it was perfect)and he rang to tell me the ends were crumbling when they tried to do mitre joins (I think thats the term) I almost fainted but he reassured me everything was OK and it just meant I would have to have it done another way where there might be a small line.
Is this stone going to be worth it...I hope so as we went to a lot of effort to get it into this house. So this week tomorrow all the tops are suppose to be fitted, hopefully it looks as good as I have imagined for the last 2 years!
