Kate Spade inspired party part 2

This party was so much fun to plan. The cake was made by a friend and it was the first time she had ever attempted something so special...it almost killed her, 3 days of baking hell!

The desert table ended up so beautiful as you can see from the photos. My SIL made all the cup deserts, topped off with little heats I brought from etsy.

And here I am in my striped dress (yes I did match the tablecloths but its my party so I can wear what I want to)

Sigh, it just looks so pretty but it all went too fast. More pictures to come.

Kate Spade inspired birthday party Part 1

It is now 2014 and here I am back again, posting on my blog (after a 2 year break). I had to clean up some of the comments so my apologies if I deleted my fellow blogger friends who are not spammers! I thought I would share some new photos of a party I have just had. It took me 4 months of planning, heaps of time on etsy and pin interest to pull it all together.
I wanted a Kate Spade theme as I am crazy about all things Kate Spade. I must say I am terribly excited to visit the shop when it opens in Melbourne, very soon I hope.

So here we go...this will take a few posts to show you some photos.

My hallway with the champagne drinks table set up for when guests arrive. The big balloons I had to get overseas. The pink and gold love hearts were made by a very dear friend of mine.

Closer look at the drinks table.

'
Time to drink Champagne and dance on the table'
Every champagne flute had this card attached and as guests walked in, I wrote their name on the card.

Below....Coffee table with flowers and cheese board...Part 2 to come shortly.

Disneyland Accommodation

Master bedroom with custom made bedhead.

We are going to Disneyland! How excited I am when I read those words. I do say, if I lived in California, I would be one of those Disney maniacs who have the yearly passes and stalk any forum to do with Disney (to be truthful, I already do spend hours on Disney forums as you have to know what you are doing to get the most out of Disneyland and California Park)
Anyway, I booked my accommodation a few weeks ago at this beautiful Villa opposite Disneyland. Last time we went we stayed at the Candy Cane Inn which was wonderful but now my boys are older, bigger and need their privacy a bit more. Since we have a family of 5, most rooms are too small and some hotels will make you book 2 rooms so double the price.

ully appointed Kitchen...look at that farmers ppointed
Fully appointed kitchen...I love the farmers sink and tapware!

So I went on tripadvisor (as I always do when it comes to travel) and found this house for rent just across from Disney near the downtown area. I couldn't believe how nice the rooms were decorated as I scrolled through all the pictures. The owner has a flair for decorating so I knew this was the place for us. All reviews were highly complimentary so I felt fairly confident this was a safe and lovely place for my family to stay.

The owner is wonderful to deal with and I think we have both worked out the best time to communicate by email is 10pm at night (Melbourne time). Every room is so thoughtfully decorated in a fun Disney way but not at all tacky like I have seen in some hotel accommodation. Even the little deer heads on the wall in the photo above made me want to stay this place.

How gorgeous is this themed bathroom! The black and white wallpaper and the witch in the mirror...how utterly cute! I also will mention that the whole interior has been newly renovated so hopefully no tired furniture, torn sofas, old bathrooms we will have to put up with.

This is the kids bathroom. My little fella is going to go wild when he sees this and his bedroom. I really love the toilet seat as it is totally appropriate for Disney rooms.

The attention to detail is incredible. The black and white tiles are not your standard white brick tiles you see in hotel rooms...even the shower curtain is gorgeous in the bathroom.

Finally, the boys room! Ok, maybe not exactly the style a 14 and 18 year old would want but this is world of Disney and the' magic' begins in the accommodation (I think I have been reading too many Disney threads) At least my little boy will be over the moon. Everything is so colourful right down to the striped wallpaper and curtains. Other guests have commented about all the little extras they make the stay so wonderful like the fully equipped kitchen, washroom, welcome packages...anything you could need for a family stay. I am really excited about Disneyland and this will be my 3rd visit. So off I go researching about rides, food, shows and of course Cars World. We are still trying to work out who can run the fastest to get that Cars ride fastpass!

I also want to add that I have permission from the owner to post pictures of her stunning Villa.

On a different note, I am sure most of you have already read A-M's blog and the problems she has had with being bullied. Her bullies have tried to ruin her in every way possible. It is absolutely frightening to think how far these people have gone to try and shut her down. I have never met someone so full of life, happy, courageous and as inspirational as A-M. My heart goes out to A-M and her beautiful family...I only hope it stops soon so she can just simply be free to live her life.

My Tiffany Inspired Dinner Party

 My Dinner Table

After much initial planning, my 'tiffany inspired' dinner party was a great success and the little special touches I added to the table, just made the whole night just that more special for my friend and her family. I started planning this a few weeks ago with buying the main fabric cloth from spotlight. The Tiffany Blue colour I was after is very hard (almost impossible) to match but the  blue colour I did find was the closest match. Then life events (hospital stays family and friend) distracted me from further planning. It wasn't until the night before party, I actually had the energy to start thinking once again about how I was going to set the table and what else I was going to need.

I ran around the local shopping center looking for those 1 or 2 special touches that would create a beautiful table. I already had many of the key elements but wanted to get something special that my friend would remember and take home with her. Keeping with my colour theme, I knew I would have to introduce black elements throughout and wasn't sure or confident I could do it. I went into Morgan and Finch where my beautiful niece works and she suggested I buy the little candle holders that have a floral black and white dainty pattern, Perfect, I bought 3 as well as a pack of 3 little candles in blue packaging that I could put on the table with a white ribbon as a little token for the ladies at the table to take home.

Menu Cards
Next I had to get something that I could use as menus for the table. I went to Kikki K and bought a packet of black and white photo cards. I printed 8 black and white photos of my friend and her family each picture as a reminder of the very happy moments we have shared in our lives. The menu I printed and pasted inside the cards. I really think it was this attention to detail that made my friends feel very special and the whole night personalised for just them. They also got to take all the cards home as a reminder of their last night with us in Melbourne.

This is one of the menu cards up close and my friend who is also godmother to my youngest child (seen in the picture when he was about 3 years old)

A picture of the menu inside the photo card

You can also see more clearly the little extras I added like the diamonds underneath my chandelier. Everybody loved them for some reason so I gave the guest of honour some to take home. I bought these at Dusk and we played with them all night!

Drinks Table

The gorgeous champagne bowl belongs to my friend Pip (who prepared all the food for the dinner party) and it is the most handy item to have when having a few people over. We just plonked some ice in it, added champagne, coke bottles and 'chick drinks' so people could help themeselves. It really creates a nice party atmosphere and allows me to dither around the kitchen without forgetting to refill my guests drinks. The secret weapon we had on this occasion was a drink called Cosmo. The best cocktail I have ever had...one sip and you are in party mode haha.

Couldn't help it but had to include one food dish (and I do apoloigise about the spoon still in the soup dish, you just dont think when you are trying to eat and take pictures at the same time). I heard on the radio yesterday that 50% of people hate photos on facebook of what people are eating. So here I am posting just one photo only because I love my plate so much. At the time we bought these soup bowls, we could only afford 4 and they were even half price. So what we do is serve our guests their food in the nice dishes and we have just the old crappy white ones. Seriously, I will have to buy another 4 but they are sooooo expensive..... Sigh, just add one at a time I think!

So there it is. My dinner party...where are the flowers? It just didn't happen that's all. Another hospital emergency on the day of the party so I did what I had to do, just didn't physical have the time or the energy to buy the white flowers I had my mind set on.

Chanel Print

My Chanel No 5 Print from  Made By Girl

My Chanel No 5 print arrived today all the way from New York. I must admit, the quality is outstanding and printed on paper that makes it look like the original. It has texture and a depth to it that I have never come across prints before. I love it!
For the moment, it is in a small gold frame beside my bed but it doesn't really do the picture justice. Even Mr B told me to go and get it framed properly as he liked it as well. I am really liking this blog (Made By Girl) at the moment, probably because New York is on my mind all the time and I wish we could go there this year. I am determined to go back to New York (my favourite city) for a BIG birthday present in the next few years. There has to be some consolation in turning 50 so I am determined to be like Carrie in Sex In The City and stroll down 5th Avenue without a care in the world

My picture sits on my beside table for now

I am really liking this iPhone cover as well from Made by Girl. Who else in Australia would have an iPhone cover like this?
